It was reported earlier today that former first-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings CB Jeff Gladney passed away. He was, reportedly, involved in a car accident in Dallas last night.

Here is a tweet by his college teammate and great friend Jalen Reagor of the Philadelphia Eagles:

Gladney dealt with a lot of trouble with the law, but he seemed to be on his way back and he was candidly trying to make up for past mistakes. He had an arrest to deal with last year, which led to the Vikings releasing him but he was acquitted of those charges in court. According to Cardinals vice president of player personnel Quentin Harris, appearing on The Dave Pasch Podcast, the «off-field issues had been cleaned up.»

Gladney signed a two-year deal to join the Cardinals a few months ago. It's hard to put into words how sad this is. He had all his life in front of him. Gladney was always a player that was extremely respected by all his teammates and opponents. He will be remembered for his great energy and his kindness to others.

This is such tragic news in the world of sports. Our deepest condolences to his family and everyone affected...

Here he was just a few days ago in action with his new team:
