Instead of studying film on his opponents, Hill revealed to reporters on Thursday that he relies on the popular video game "Madden NFL" to get a sense of his adversaries' strengths and weaknesses. The night before a game, he checks out a player's ratings and skill breakdown in the game.
"I go to the EA rosters, then I scroll down and see what their awareness is, their speed, and their strength, and that's how I get a good tell on them," Hill explained.
"I feel like Madden has a good tell of how good players are," he continued. "I just play Madden the night before and I go look at all their ratings. Let's say, for instance, they have Steven Nelson and Derek Stingley Jr. [of the Texans] over there. Two phenomenal players by the way. I just get on Madden, I go to the EA rosters, and then I scroll down to see what their awareness is, their speed is, and their strength, and that's how I get a good tell on them."
It's an unconventional approach that has certainly raised eyebrows, but if it works for Hill, then who's to argue?
