The landscape of the Chicago Bears is set to undergo significant changes in 2024 compared to the previous year, particularly at the quarterback position, with the departure of Justin Fields.
This move all but confirms their intention to select a quarterback with the top overall pick in the upcoming draft, widely speculated to be Caleb Williams.
Traditionally, teams holding the No. 1 overall pick undergo a multi-year rebuilding process to reshape their roster. However, the Bears have already made substantial progress in roster reconstruction during the offseason.
As Nick Wright emphasized on First Things First, "This provides the ideal environment for [Williams] to thrive."
Not only have the Bears bolstered their lineup with acquisitions in free agency, but Wright also points out their favorable schedule for the upcoming season, characterized by matchups against some of the league's weakest teams.
Wright highlighted, "The Bears will face off against all the bottom teams from last year."
Examining the Bears' schedule against non-divisional opponents reveals matchups with teams such as the Tennessee Titans, New England Patriots, Washington Commanders, and Carolina Panthers.
While the performance of these teams in the upcoming season remains uncertain, based on their standings in 2023, the Bears could be poised for a successful debut season for Williams, should he indeed join the team.
Wright acknowledges that while the NFC North division may pose challenges, the remainder of the Bears' schedule appears comparatively favorable.
