After signing with the Patriots just days before, wide receiver Jalen Hurd has announced that he is retiring from the NFL.

Hurd was drafted by the 49ers as the 67th pick in the 2019 NFL draft. Hurd was a solid college player during his time with Tennessee, and then Baylor for his last year. Before entering the NFL, he showed a lot of promise, which NFL scouts saw, as he was a 3rd round pick.

After being picked by the 49ers, Hurd was excited for his rookie season. Unfortunately, Hurd never got to play, due to a back injury.

After recovering from his injury, Hurd suffered another injury in 2020, as he tore his ACL during training camp, keeping him off the field for yet another year in a row.

Then, in his 3rd year in the NFL in 2021, Hurd suffered a knee injury, which once again, forced him to miss the entire season. During the season, the 49ers released Hurd, and he spent the rest of that season, including the 2022 season, without a job.

Finally, he signed with the Patriots just a few days ago, however, it was just announced that he is retiring from the game and leaving football, after suffering another injury.

Sadly, Hurd never got to play one snap in the regular season of the NFL, and spent his entire career on the injured reserve list.
