Panthers Pull Off Insane Hail Mary, Celebration Penalty Causes 48-Yard Game-Winning Extra Point To Be Missed
Carolina Panthers wideout D.J. Moore did two unthinkable things at the end of regulation against the Atlanta Falcons.
First, he caught an incredible 62-yard touchdown with 23 seconds left to tie the game. But after securing the touchdown, Moore committed an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty after taking off his helmet in celebration.
That penalty pushed the extra-point attempt back by 15 yards, which set Panthers kicker Eddy Pi�eiro up for a game-winning kick from 48 yards out. He missed it cleanly, which sent the game to overtime.
Falcons kicker Younghoe Koo booted a 41-yard field goal in overtime after a silly penalty by Moore opened the door for the Falcons to pull off a 37-34 victory Sunday that maintained their hold on the NFC South lead.
"Our guys don't blink," said Marcus Mariota, who got a chance on his 29th birthday to make up for an interception that could've -- should've, really -- sent his team to a loss.
