Patrick Mahomes Reveals Ultimatum Chiefs Gave Him After Ankle Injury
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes hurt his ankle early in the divisional game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and after initially being questionable to return, he went back in for the second half and played through the rest of the game, helping lead the Chiefs to a 27-20 win.
He was diagnosed with a high-ankle injury. Following the weekend's action, head coach Andy Reid confirmed to reporters Monday that Mahomes does indeed have a high-ankle sprain, adding that he's "doing OK" and "working hard on the treatment." Reid also noted that he wants to wait and see how Mahomes is feeling before determining the amount of reps he'll receive throughout the week of practice.
After the win, Mahomes revealed during his postgame interview with Melissa Stark that the Chiefs staff gave him an ultimatum after his exit; either go to the locker room or not have a chance to return to the game.
«I did not want to go,» Mahomes told Stark, per Sky Sports. «They gave me the ultimatum of not going back in the game unless I went in the locker roomit's going to take a lot to keep me out of a football game.»
