Patriots Wide Receiver Demario Douglas Knocked Out by Terrifying Unlawful Clothesline Tackle from Giants Player (VIDEO)
Demario Douglas was sidelined for most of the fourth quarter on Sunday, following a brutal hit he endured at MetLife Stadium.
During the opening minute of the final quarter against the Giants, Douglas was returning a punt when he was nearly decapitated by a clothesline tackle delivered by New York linebacker Cam Brown. FOX's slow-motion replay of the incident vividly captured Douglas hitting his head on the turf as he fell backward after the punishing hit.
Surprisingly, the referees did not throw a penalty flag, and Brown celebrated on the field as Douglas lost control of the football and lay motionless.
The Patriots' 2023 sixth-round draft pick received assistance from the team's trainers and was subsequently escorted to the locker room. A few minutes later, it was announced that Douglas would not be returning to the game.
Before his injury, Douglas had recorded six receptions for 49 receiving yards. The Liberty product had also returned three punts, though they only amounted to a total of nine yards.
