"With Tom Brady's retirement, I'm not sure how close the Buccaneers are to being competitive. Even if they were to acquire an established veteran quarterback, like Derek Carr, I'm not sure how high their ceiling would be. Winning the NFC South again? Sure, that's possible. But actually competing for a championship? It's hard to see. Thus, moving on from the 29-year-old Evans in the last year of his contract makes too much sense.
Many might think I'm suggesting this just because I want him to go to Chicago... But Evans would actually be a great acquisition for several teams, including those seriously looking to make a Super Bowl run. Like the Dallas Cowboys, who are eager to advance beyond the Divisional Round for the first time since Bill Clinton's first term. It turns out Jerry Jones and Co. may have erred in trading Amari Cooper last year. Dak Prescott needs more firepower on the outside, and I imagine Evans, a Texas native who shone at Texas A&M, wouldn't mind playing for the 'Boys. If the Rams wanted to make another attempt, that's another possibility. How about the Chiefs? Would that even be fair?"
Evans has been incredibly consistent since his NFL rookie season in 2014, racking up over 1,000 receiving yards in each of his nine seasons and recording six seasons of eight or more touchdown receptions. With Brady gone, he is now the Buccaneers' top player. However, the question is whether Licht would be willing to part ways with a fan favorite who is still in his prime. Ultimately, the decision could come down to the quality of the offers that the Buccaneers receive. As of yet, the team has not indicated that they're looking to trade Evans.
