As per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Carter initially claimed to be nearly a mile away from the accident site, but later changed his story, stating that he was either behind the other vehicle or alongside it when the crash occurred. The crash involved a car driven by Georgia football staffer Chandler LeCroy, with Georgia offensive lineman Devin Willock as a passenger, both of whom passed away in the accident. Two other football personnel sustained injuries.
The police questioned Carter about whether he had been racing the other car, which he denied. The initial report stated that the accident was a single-car incident caused by LeCroy driving too fast. However, the revelation that Carter's car was also at the scene raises questions regarding his potential legal liability.
Carter has yet to provide any public comments on the matter. It is worth noting that in September of last year, Carter received a speeding ticket for driving at 89 mph in a 45 mph zone.
