Former Broncos running back Ronnie Hillman is in hospice because of pneumonia as he battles liver cancer, according to 104.3 The Fan's Derek Wolfe and Orlando Franklin, each former teammates of Hillman.

The family says he is being kept comfortable and out of pain in hospice care.

"As a family, we hope beyond hope, and we have faith that can move mountains," the family said.

"We also understand that God's will is not always ours; therefore, we as a family subject ourselves to the will of our Almighty God."

"We need your prayers, but we also need your understanding and respect for Ronnie and our family's privacy at this time."

«That's awful news,» another former teammate Brandon Stokley said on. «He had a slow start but really picked it up and contributed a lot during the Super Bowl year.»

Hillman was a third-round selection by the Broncos in the 2012 NFL Draft. He played 48 games with the Broncos. During that time, he rushed for 1,845 yards and scored 13 touchdowns

«Great football player, great person, great teammate, just an all-around great dude,» another teammate, Derek Wolfe said.
