Steve McMichael, a prospective Hall of Famer and former defensive tackle for the 1985 Super Bowl-winning Chicago Bears, has reportedly shown signs of improvement.

WGN's Jarrett Payton reports that McMichael, who is battling ALS and has been immobilized by the disease, was admitted to the emergency room last Thursday due to suspected pneumonia. However, his condition has since improved following hospital treatment.

According to Payton's Twitter update on Friday, McMichael is anticipated to be discharged from the hospital in the coming days. He was treated for a urinary tract infection (UTI) with antibiotics, which have effectively addressed the issue. Additionally, McMichael is undergoing a procedure to remove fluid from his lungs.

This incident marks the second time McMichael has been hospitalized under similar circumstances.

During the NFL Honors event at the Super Bowl last week, McMichael was named as one of the two senior candidates for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton. The induction ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, August 3.

Jarrett Payton, the son of the legendary Bears running back Walter Payton, will have the honor of presenting McMichael at the Hall of Fame ceremony.
