Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, speaking on 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh (as reported by Trevor Squire of Heavy.com), has revealed that individuals close to Cousins are fascinated by the prospect of the Pittsburgh Steelers seeking his services. According to Florio, there's a belief within Cousins' circle that the Steelers, in search of quarterback stability, might consider the experienced Cousins as a prime candidate.
"The Steelers, looking for certainty at the quarterback position, are expected to pursue a seasoned veteran rather than gamble on a late first-round draft pick's development. Discussions last week indicated a strong interest from Cousins' camp in the possibility of the Steelers targeting him," Florio commented.
The Steelers have had a carousel at quarterback in 2023, rotating between Mason Rudolph, Kenny Pickett, and Mitch Trubiskythe latter being released recently and Rudolph's contract set to expire.
Cousins was on track for one of his best seasons in 2023, boasting a completion rate of 69.5% for 2,331 yards, 18 touchdowns, and just five interceptions, until a torn Achilles in Week 8 curtailed his campaign. Despite Cousins' efforts, the Vikings managed a 4-4 record in his starts but struggled to a 3-6 finish in his absence, highlighting his impact on the team.
