NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has hinted at a change to the league's schedule prior to Sunday's Super Bowl.

During his annual state of the league press conference on Wednesday, Goodell spoke to reporters about various topics. The 63-year-old defended NFL referees, stating that officiating has never been better and also spoke about the progress in minority hirings around the league. Additionally, Goodell mentioned that he wouldn't be surprised if Thursday night games started being flexible, similar to Sunday night games. This potential change is likely to be met with opposition from players, as Thursday night games already present challenges such as less rest and disrupted routines. However, it could be beneficial for fans, as some Thursday night games in the past have been less than entertaining. Flexibility in scheduling could make the games more enjoyable, but it could also cause inconvenience for those who have already purchased tickets, only to find out the game has been rescheduled.

Should the NFL actually make this change, they would have to give teams and fans proper notice. It would take some doing.
