The Bears did indeed add to the receiver room, but not until their 3rd pick. The Bears selected WR Velus Jones Jr with the 71st overall selection after addressing the secondary with their first two selections.
The criticism of this selection flooded the doors of Halas Hall due to the fact that the Bears passed up on multiple other receivers and also because Jones Jr will be 25 when training camp starts.
Despite the criticism, Jones Jr feels his maturity will work to his advantage. At the conclusion of the rookie mini-camp, Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy had many positive comments on the rookie receiver.
If the rookie receiver can use his 4.3 speed, along with becoming a tremendous fit in Getsy's offense he has the tools to flash early and be a valuable weapon to this offense.
