"The Chicago Bears might actually have a plan under Ryan Pace as he continues to learn on the job. He made a big splash last year by drafting Mitch Trubisky and now he is doing everything he can to put his young quarterback in a position to succeed.
Pace seems to be the first Bears general manager in a long time to realize that you need to score points in order to win in today's NFL. After firing John Fox last January, he hired Matt Nagy to build an offensive minded coaching staff around Trubisky.
Now Pace has started to add weapons for Trubisky to throw to and rack up the points. After signing wide receiver Allen Robinson and tight end Trey Burton early on Monday, he added two more offensive weapons later in the day.
While none of these deals can be announced until Wednesday afternoon, place kicker Cody Parkey will be one of the newest Bears. Parkey broke Kevin Butler's rookie scoring record back in 2014 with the Philadelphia Eagles, but a groin injury derailed his 2015 season. After time with the Colts, Browns and Dolphins he lands in Chicago.
Parkey seemed to regain his confidence by converting 21 of his 23 field goal attempts for Miami last year. He played for Bears special team coordinator Chris Tabor when he held the same post in Cleveland in 2016. Kickers are the highest scoring players in the NFL so upgrading over Connor Barth is a big deal.
Multiple reports also have the Bears signing wide receiver Taylor Gabriel, who is a speedy slot receiver that will compliment Robinson and Cam Meredith quite well. In his 58 career NFL games with the Browns and Falcons, Gabriel has averaged 13.5 yards per catch and had two catches for over 40 yards last season, which equaled as many as the entire Bears team had in 2017.
Don't worry, Pace is taking care of Vic Fangio and the defense too. "
