SEE HERE: Bears TE Cole Kmet Reflects on the Hail Mary Drop by WR Darnell Mooney
This was a tough loss.
The Bears had a chance to win the game on a hail mary, but unfortunately, WR Darnell Mooney dropped the ball.
After the game, Bears standout TE Cole Kmet spoke about the "almost game winner":
As seen in the tweet, Kmet said:
"He wants to make the play, you know what I mean? But again, it's hard for me to look at that and just be like that's � sure, that's the play that could have won it, but you can't be depending on those plays at the end of the game to win the game. Three-and-outs are the things that are more glaring. If we're able to execute a couple first downs here and there instead of three-and-outs we win that game with how our defense is playing. I tend to more look at those things. But the Hail Mary, it kind of just is what it is"
Kmet explains as though it would have been sweet to see his teammate make the catch, he also understands that the Bears should not have been in that position at all.
The team was only in this hail mary position due to them blowing a 10-point lead in the 4th quarter. A hail mary is supposed to be the last shot at a TD, and they usually end in an incompletion. Yes, the ball did fall right into Mooney's hands, but still, the whole team is to blame for the loss.
