The Bears now have over $22M in cap space, per Over The Cap.
For those of you not certain about the meaning of a post-June 1 cut, let me explain. With a post-June 1 designation, a team is required to carry the player's full cap number until June 2 even though he is no longer a part of the roster. The player's salary comes off the books at that time unless it is guaranteed.
It will be interesting to see what GM Ryan Poles does with that cap space. I feel like he has done a very solid job so far managing the cap. However, you could say that the amount of talent he has brought in may be a little underwhelming to this point. With still a lot of proven veterans still left on the market, I fully expect Poles to sign more players in the upcoming weeks.
