After the Bears' Week 3 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, offensive coordinator Luke Getsy emphasized the need for patience. He believed that with time, the team would eventually find its rhythm.

Getsy stated, "I think we're in the process of building something special. And I think that we're in the phase of it's Week 3 going into Week 4, and we're going on to find a way to attack Denver in a completely different way than we did Kansas City. That's a week-to-week challenge that you have. There's different schemes. There's different mentalities of coordinators that you're playing against. Like Coach Flus kind of always says, you get 24 hours to enjoy or be sad about whatever the heck happened, and you move on. That's part of our business. It's a 17-week process. It is not a three-week process."

However, after fourteen weeks into the season, the Bears' offense is still struggling to find consistency.

The Bears currently rank 22nd in scoring offense, 22nd in total offense, 27th in passing, fifth in rushing, 12th in third-down conversion rate, 12th in red zone conversion rate, 29th in interception percentage, 25th in passer rating, 23rd in EPA per play, 19th in success rate, and 25th in dropback EPA.

Quarterback Justin Fields also faces challenges, ranking 24th in EPA, 28th in success rate, and 23rd in QBR.

Although there have been flashes of success against teams like the Washington Commanders and the Detroit Lions, consistency remains elusive, and time is running out for the Bears to rectify their offensive struggles in the 2023 season.

Getsy acknowledged the need for improvement and consistency, emphasizing that executing fundamentals, alignment, assignments, and maintaining focus are crucial.

The Bears' issues extend to crucial moments in the fourth quarter when they have a chance to win the game. In these situations, Fields and the offense have performed poorly, ranking at the bottom among NFL teams.

Despite the varied challenges in different situations, it's evident that something isn't working with the Bears' offense, whether it's related to Fields or Getsy. The partnership appears strained, and it seems unlikely that it will continue into a third season at this point.

Bears head coach Matt Eberflus recognizes the need for evaluation once the season concludes, as the offense has fallen short of expectations. The big-picture assessment should lead to the conclusion that changes are necessary, both in terms of personnel and coaching, to address the team's offensive deficiencies.
