This week saw the return of wide receiver Darnell Mooney and defensive end DeMarcus Walker to the practice field. Mooney had been sidelined due to a stomach bug.
This ailment adds to what has been a frustrating season, with last week's game raising questions about Mooney's effort, particularly regarding a lackluster block on a critical fourth-down run by quarterback Justin Fields and the near-miss Hail Mary pass.
Mooney commented on the final play, saying, "At the end of the day, I tried to catch the ball, and falling, it's difficult. It's a difficult catch. I tried to catch the damn thing." He clarified, "I see everything about the fourth and one play. I'm not blocking for Justin [on the play], so if I was blocking for Justin, that would have been more a thought like, 'Oh, I got to hold this longer.' It's supposed to be a pick route."
Once again, it was a game where the Bears had a chance to secure victory late but fell short. Receiver DJ Moore acknowledged the need for crucial plays in the fourth quarter to seal the game and maintain control of the ball on offense. He emphasized the importance of holding the lead and keeping the pressure on the opposing team's offense.
CBS 2 also inquired about Moore's condition after he appeared less than 100% against the Browns due to an ankle injury last Sunday. Moore revealed that his ankle was hit early in the game but stated that it's "way better" this week, although not completely healed. He estimated his recovery at around 97%.
