With Rodgers' football future still uncertain, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel recently reported that "at one point late last year, Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst told an NFL colleague he was convinced it was time the organization move on from" the 39-year-old quarterback and "see what [third-year quarterback] Jordan Love had in him." However, these sentiments have shifted this week, and the Packers now hope to retain Rodgers, as stated by Tom Pelissero of NFL.com during a Rich Eisen Show appearance.
While the Broncos were the team most closely linked to Rodgers since his trade request became public, Pelissero adds that they would not have given the Packers the same amount of assets they gave the Seahawks due to the uncertainty surrounding Rodgers' future.
