The NFL is a cruel business. You sometimes don't get many chances to actually be a long-term part of this league. Other times, injuries can derail your path towards achieving your ultimate goals. With that being said, one surprising player that should be released in the next few days by the Bears is CB Tavon Young.

Indeed, Young has not been able to participate throughout training camp, and the biggest concern about him when he signed in Chicago, was actually injuries...

Here is what Alyssa Barbieri of BearsWire mentioned about his chances (or lack thereof) to make the final 53-man roster:

Considering we haven't seen Tavon Young for most of the summer, this is definitely a possibility heading into final roster cuts. While Young provides depth at an important position in Matt Eberflus' defense, he hasn't seen the field and risks getting cut in favor of some young players who've had a chance to make an impression.

This is one cut I wasn't expecting at the start of training camp as Tavon Young was an experienced, talented nickel cornerback the Bears appeared to desperately need. While it certainly looks rookie Kyler Gordon will get plenty of time in the slot this year, Young still should've made it as a top reserve option. But Young has been sidelined for most of the summer, and there have been a number of players who have made a stronger case for a roster spot.

I agree that I also truly expect him to be cut, especially with the depth the Bears already have at the position.
