When the Bears hired Eberflus he joked around stating that the guys better bring their track shoes because we're going to run. This was by no means a joke though, essentially Eberflus was stating that he wants a well-conditioned team and does not expect to be out hustled.
One huge concept surrounding Eberflus' scheme is his H.I.T.S. concept. Which stands for Hustle, intensity, taking the ball away and situationally smart. This is not limited to being a well-tackling team, disciplined and playing to the echo of the whistle. Eberflus' defences have had tremendous success and his players have bought into the concept.
This has to get Bears fans excited, this is extremely reminiscent of the old Bears defense led by Lovie Smith and Rod Marinelli from the 2000s that we know so well that consisted of Brian Urlacher, Lance Briggs, Charles «Peanut» Tillman, Alex Brown, Tommie Harris just to name a few. It's not hard to remember how that defense could take over games and the intensity and fear it could strike In the opposition.
