The Taunting penalty rule
This rule was implemented last season and let's just say it was not a success. While it has fine intentions, it truly does no good for the game. It was consistently inconsistent. Of course, you would like players to stay respectful to each other. However, it is still a sport that grown man plays and this sport has always had some "trash talk". Whether you like it or not, it is a part of the game that we all love. One of the worst things about the taunting rule was that we saw gestures that could have been penalized that were not and some little gestures that were. In addition, a 15-yard penalty is huge in the game of football. It can really change the momentum. In my opinion, this rule needs to be gone and it should not even be a debate. It is too inconsistent and impactful for such little gestures.
Here is an example of Bears' Cassius Marsh doing a celebration and then just standing there. He got flagged and the impact of the penalty was immense on the game.
