He said it does not have multiple "blue chip" prospects. This means that there is not a lot of, if any, players that would be taken in the top 5 of normal drafts. He also mentioned that there is no clear-cut QB1. There are, however, multiple "starter quality" players from round 1 to round 3. We have seen a lot of reports that say pretty much the same kind of things. I think this is amazing news for the Bears.
First of all, the Bears have their QB1. Let's say they did not draft Justin Fields last year, they would probably end up with Malik Willis or Matt Corral. Give me Fields over them all day long. You could make a great case that Justin Fields would have been the #1 draft pick in the 2022 NFL draft. In addition, Fields is younger than Corral and only 2 months older than Willis.
The Bears do not have a first-round pick this year. But, if the reports saying that the top-end talent is not incredible are true, this might just be the best year not to have your first-rounder. I think that if Poles can find 3 or more quality starters with the draft picks available, it could be a very successful draft.
