This top quarterback prospect is receiving many Patrick Mahomes comparisons from QB gurus
If the highly-respected quarterbacks guru Tom House is correct, several NFL teams may want to begin thinking about "tanking" for the 2024 draft.
Indeed, according to House, who has worked with big-name quarterbacks like Tom Brady, Drew Brees, and Dak Prescott, he believes that USC quarterback and Heisman Trophy finalist Caleb Williams is «the second coming of Patrick Mahomes" praising the 20-year-old's accuracy and decision-making. Well, the comparison made its way back to the Heisman favorite, who gave a confident response about his own abilities when stacked up against the Chiefs star.
«It's pretty cool, I'd say, just because everybody watches Patrick and sees all the cool things he can do,» Caleb Williams said, per Zach Gelb of CBS Sports Radio. «I always said even in high school that I don't think there's anything�obviously, he's special, but I don't think there's anything that I can't do that he's doing out there.»
He then add:
"It means a lot to me, just because you work so hard as an athlete," Williams said on ESPN's College Football award show. "I work so hard to be the best player and that's what you try to achieve every single day that you get up and you go workout or you go work in the film room, out in the field, with your teammates. You want to be your best and so to be able to be named Maxwell award winner, it does for sure mean a lot."
Williams has a chance to be USC's eighth Heisman winner, which would unofficially break the tie with Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Ohio State for the most Heisman Trophies for any given program. I said unofficially since USC is only credited with six Heisman winners after legendary running back Reggie Bush' 2005 trophy was removed due to NCAA sanctions. A win would make him the third USC QB to win the award after with Matt Leinart and Carson Palmer.
