Some things never change in sports, and that is the value of a young prospect fluctuating up or down depending on their actions off the field.

That is precisely the story of Georgia star defensive tackle, Jalen Carter. Over the last few months, this young man has been praised beyond belief, drawing comparisons to some of the greatest pass rushers in the NFL. Some have even gone to say that he is hall of fame caliber. That certainly is the bold statement for someone who hasn't even been drafted yet.

All the pieces were in place for Jalen Carter to be at the very top of the draft board, until...he got arrested. Now it seems that his stock had plummeted.

Enter the Chicago Bears acquiring the 9th overall pick from the Carolina Panthers, and suddenly, we have what may appear to be a match.

ESPN's Mike Greenberg appeared on Waddle & Silvy and made things very clear. Putting all doubt behind us regarding whether or not the Bears will select Jalen Carter at #9 if he is available.

I can tell you who the Bears are going to take by the way. [...] They're going to take Jalen Carter. [...] I think he's going to be there. I'm telling you what the buzz is everywhere here. All of the buzz is that Jalen Carter is going nine to Chicago.

The mock drafts over the last few weeks have had the Chicago Bears' selection strengthening either side of the trenches, but such a defensive talent falling to 9th overall? The Bears will certainly be looking to gamble.
