"It is rare to be able to select the best overall player in the NFL Draft with the eight pick, but that could be exact possible position Ryan Pace and the Chicago Bears could be in next month.
Mel Kiper Jr, ESPN's long time and well-respected draft expert, released his latest «big board» of prospect rankings and he has Notre Dame guard Quenton Nelson as the third best player in the entire draft. Thanks to numerous teams likely selecting quarterbacks ahead of the Bears, many mock drafts have Nelson falling down to the eighth spot.
«If you're picking eighth and you get one of the [three best] players in the draft, you're ecstatic,» Kiper said, per Mark Potash of the Chicago Sun-Times. «Plus, he fills a need. Plus, he maybe can play tackle. And he's helping your quarterback, [Mitchell] Trubisky – that inside pressure is the toughest thing on any quarterback. I don't know how you pass on Nelson if he's there.»
While an interior lineman is not the sexiest pick at number eight, Nelson is projected to be a cornerstone lineman and could shore up the middle of the Bears line for years to come.
Who do you want the Bears to select with their first pick?"
