Florida football experts continue to advise the Chicago Bears to hold onto the No. 1 pick and explore options beyond quarterback Justin Fields. However, the risk of putting all their hopes on a young talent in his early 20s is evident.

While exceptions like Peyton Manning and John Elway exist, the prevailing draft strategy of accumulating multiple high-value picks has repeatedly proven to be the most effective route to building a winning franchise.

Should the Bears decide to trade away the No. 1 overall pick, as they did successfully last year with the Carolina Panthers, they could potentially secure an even more substantial return. According to ESPN's Courtney Cronin and Jeremy Fowler, multiple NFL executives suggest that the haul could include two future first-round picks, the trade partner's 2024 first-rounder (even if it's in the top-5), and an asset from the Day-2 draft or an established player.

If the Bears believe that Justin Fields' potential ceiling is that of a top-10 NFL quarterback, the decision becomes more straightforward. Trading the No. 1 overall selection to the New England Patriots, who currently hold the third pick and are expected to struggle in the coming seasons due to a lack of skill position talent and the possible departure of coach Bill Belichick, could be a viable option.

By using the No. 3 pick to select Olumuyiwa Fashanu of Penn State, ESPN's top-rated offensive tackle, the Bears could address a critical position of need with an elite prospect. This approach would allow the Bears to move forward with Fields under a cost-controlled contract for two more seasons, backed by two first-round picks (likely in the top-10) from the Patriots in the next two drafts, which could be used to secure a new quarterback if Fields does not develop into an elite QB himself.

While many media voices argue in favor of trading Justin Fields and drafting a quarterback with the No. 1 pick, some experts believe that the top two QB prospects in the 2024 draft are too valuable for any team lacking a guaranteed Hall of Famer at the quarterback position to pass up.

Regardless of the external opinions, the Bears locker room stands firmly behind Justin Fields, with several veterans expressing their belief that he is already a top-10 NFL quarterback. This internal support is a significant factor that the franchise must weigh in their decision-making process.

Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Poles faces a challenging decision regarding the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. While experts and outside voices offer their perspectives, the ultimate choice will have a profound impact on the franchise's future and will be scrutinized heavily, potentially affecting team morale and Poles' job security.
