The Chicago Bears commenced their Organized Team Activities (OTAs) last week, and while several veterans were absent, most notably safety Eddie Jackson and wide receiver Darnell Mooney, there's a legitimate reason behind their non-participation. Both players are diligently recovering from injuries sustained during the 2022 season.

Jackson was enjoying a resurgent season until a foot injury struck him in Week 12 against the New York Jets. The subsequent diagnosis revealed a Lisfranc injury, forcing him onto the injured reserve and prematurely concluding his campaign.

Similarly, Mooney's season came to an abrupt halt after he suffered an ankle injury in the same Week 12 encounter with the Jets. Mooney underwent ankle surgery and is presently undergoing a meticulous rehabilitation process.

Bears head coach Matt Eberflus shared updates on Jackson and Mooney, assuring that they are progressing according to expectations in their rehabilitation. He stated, "It's all positive, and we expect them back soon. When they're back, they're back. Once the medical staff clears them, they'll be given the green light."

The team's hope is for Jackson and Mooney to make a full recovery in time for the commencement of training camp in late July. However, the exact status of their rehabilitation will only become clear as their recovery progresses.
