Velus Jones and Justin Fields already showing strong chemistry in practice!
It was well-documented that Bears QB Justin Fields was advocating for Ryan Poles to select WR Velus Jones jr in the draft. Fields was reportedly a very big fan of Jones' and he believed that he could be a solid player in Chicago's offense.
Here is what Velus Jones had to say on Fields when he arrives in Chicago:
«Like a little bit over a week before the draft when I got off the phone with the staff, it was a great conversation, I told him (fields) that it'd be crazy if I came to the bears. He was just saying how they was watching film and stuff and liked my game. He said we'll see what will happen.' and it's crazy, you know, with the 71st pick I got the call and I'm a Chicago bear. He texts me and says we spoke this into existence.'
He told me to lock him in, and gave me his number and stuff. Ever since then, man, a brilliant guy and his work ethic is just insane. He's in the facilities every day. I know with this week off a lot of people aren't here right now but he's still in the building each and every day. Grinding and working. So that motivates me to see my quarterback putting in the work to have the season that he knows he can have.»
Well, we got to see a pretty nice play from both of these guys in a practice scrimmage a few weeks ago!
