It was well-documented that Bears QB Justin Fields was advocating for Ryan Poles to select WR Velus Jones jr in the draft. Fields was reportedly a very big fan of Jones' and he believed that he could be a solid player in Chicago's offense.

It looks like Fields did a good job by finding talent in Jones because Velus has been incredible so far in training camp. I know that it's only practice and everything is always perfect at this time of the year, but Jones has really been lighting it up so far.

Manifesting Greatness

The rookie mentioned how he visualizes running routes and catching passes. especially of the touchdown variety from Justin Fields.

«I'm big on manifesting and so I can picture a lot great things this season. Even on certain plays and certain routes thrown by Justin.»

Moving into lighter matters, reporters asked about Velus Jones Jr.'s jersey number. He said the Bears assigned him No. 12, but equipment manager Tony Medlin did give him a call to present him with a few options. Of course, Jones Jr. said he wanted No. 11, which he wore in college.

«Obviously, our number one guy Moon has number 11. So I was like 12.» Sorry not sorry, rookie.

When thinking about No. 12 in the Bears' colours, Allen Robinson immediately comes to mind, which Jones Jr. acknowledged.

«I know Robinson was here the year before. And there was, you know, they probably thought I didn't want that number and stuff like that. But I was like, I'm not Robinson. I'm Velus Jones Jr. You know that's all that matters. Yeah, I will take number 12.»

I love that attitude. I'll tell you what, that Velus Jones fella is quickly growing on everyone in Bears Nation...
