Bears Running back David Montgomery returned to practice in limited fashion on Thursday, according to the Bears' official injury report.

Montgomery (ankle, knee) was among the multiple Bears players who did not practice on Wednesday, according to the team's injury report.n However, it was very nice to see him back in action on Thursday.

The veteran running back did not play in last week's game against the Giants due to ankle and knee injuries he suffered in Week 3 against the Texans. Last week, Montgomery did not practice at all, leading to second-year running back Khalil Herbert starting in his place. Herbert played well against the Giants, recording 77 yards on 19 carries and adding a 24-yard reception. Herbert has been incredibly efficient when given opportunities, averaging 6.1 yards per carry and 7.4 yards per reception when on the field. It's not farfetched to assume that Herbert has earned a role in the offense even if/when Montgomery returns to the lineup.

I think that a healthy duo of Montgomery and Herbert would be very beneficial for this offense.
