Video: Damar Hamlin is brought to Tears when presenting the Pat Tillman Award at the 2023 ESPYS
Every year when the ESPY Awards come around, we tend to see many heartwarming moments involved with the sports community. This year's award show included a beautiful moment that brought tears to many, including Bills' Damar Hamlin.
On January 2, 2023, Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed during a game after making a tackle. Bills training staff, along with other first responders, rushed to the field and performed CPR. It was first reported that he suffered cardiac arrest, but it was later revealed to be an episode of commotio cordis, which is an extremely rare condition when cardiac rhythm is disrupted by a blow to the chest.
Because of the fast actions taken by the staff, Hamlin's life was saved, and has since made a full recovery.
At the ESPYS this year, Hamlin presented the Pat Tillman Award for Service to the training staff of the Buffalo Bills. During the presentation, Hamlin was brought to tears. Watch the video here:
