There was a time when Tony La Russa was considered to be an inventive, forward-thinking manager. That was more than a decade ago when La Russa led the Cardinals to a World Series win in 2011 and then retired from baseball.

La Russa spent nine seasons away from baseball before Chicago White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf brought La Russa back and gave him the key to a team that had World Series aspirations.

Yesterday, the Chicago White Sox blew a five-point lead to ultimately losing to the Rangers 11-9 after 10 innings. This marks the 9th loss in the last 14 games for the Sox. They now sit third in the AL Central with a win-loss record of 27-30.

Here is a clip where you can hear the chants:

When Tony La Russa was asked about the chants, here is what he said:

«I hear it with one ear and I see it with one eye I like it when they care enough to be upset.»

Afterwards, he was asked if he anticipates more scrutiny, to which he responded, per The Athletic, «There isn't anything that is happening with this team that at the end, I'm not responsible for. If you don't like the record, it's your responsibility, if you don't like the moves, whatever it is. I've never dodged accountability. And I won't start now.»
