Why Fields Might Actually Excel This Season

Is anybody else terrified of what our receivers might do this season? Well with Getsy implementing the outside zone offense this season, things might go better than expected. There's a proven track record for the offense implemented by Shanahan in the 90s. It has worked everywhere from the fudgepackers to the 49'ers, with QBs showing big improvement from year one to two. Here is how some QBs improved under the outside zone offense.

Steve Young (1993 to 1994)

Yards: 4,023 to 3,969TDs: 29 to 35INTs: 16 to 10Passer rating: 101.5 to 112.8

John Elway (1994 to 1995)

Yards: 3,490 to 3,970TDs: 16 to 26INTs: 10 to 14Passer rating: 85.7 to 86.4

Jake Plummer (2002 to 2003)

Yards: 2,972 in 16 games to 2,182 in 11 gamesTDs: 18 to 15INTs: 20 to 7Passer rating: 65.7 to 91.2

Joe Flacco (2013 to 2014)

Yards: 3,912 to 3,986TDs: 19 to 27INTs: 22 to 12Passer rating: 73.1 to 91.0

Jared Goff (2016 to 2017)

Yards: 1,089 yards in 7 games to 3,804 yards in 15 gamesTDs: 5 to 28INTs: 7 to 7Passer rating: 63.6 to 100.5

Take it with a grain of salt but I trust that Poles and company wouldn't gut the team and front office the way they did without a plan. So let's hold tight and give this young team a chance.
