Mack is a 7-time Pro Bowler, a 4-time First-team All-Pro, and the 2016 NFL Defensive Player of the Year. Mack is one of the greatest linebackers we have ever seen, and may be the best in the game right now. After being drafted by the Raiders back in 2014, he has been a threat to the NFL.
After holding out during the 2018 preseason, the Raiders traded Mack to the Bears, in exchange for a couple of draft picks, including 2 first rounders. When this trade was finalized, Bears fans could not believe this, and were on cloud 9 for weeks and weeks. They finally got their star and a Super Bowl looked possible. News outlets, such as Bleacher Report, reported that the odds for the Bears to win the 2018 Super Bowl "skyrocketed."
The Bears' 2018 season was a great one, as they finished with a 12-4 record. However, they were kicked out of the playoffs during wild card weekend. During his stay with Chicago, the Bears only made the playoffs twice, losing both in the first round.
During his time with the Bears, Mack was still a star, and putting up solid numbers. The reason why Mack did not "save the day" was because the Bears wanted him to carry them, which impossible in the game of football. QB Mitchell Trubisky did not know how to lead his team, and failed when the team relied on him most. Mack was put on a bad team that was good for 1 year, but then went back to their old ways. The Bears then traded him before the 2022 season to to the Chargers for only 2 draft picks.
When we look back at Mack on the Bears, we see a player who helped this team for a short period of time. What he did for the team was special, and he will be remembered as one of the greatest Bears. Maybe, we could see Mack back on the Bears, as now he does not have to carry them. This is a new team with new coaching, QB, and defense. The energy is different, and something Mack would like.
