One name that may not be talked about enough is the veteran receiver, Dante Pettis. Many forget that despite so far not a tremendous start to his NFL career Pettis was originally a 2nd round pick by the San Francisco 49ers GM John Lynch and Head Coach Kyle Shanahan. That duo alone has been extremely skilled in scouting talent for the 49ers.
Pettis has the inside edge over the other receivers in two areas, familiarity with this scheme and a prior relationship with the current Wide receiver and Passing Game coordinator, Tyke Tolbert.
Additionally, Pettis has never been a poor receiver, he is a tremendous route runner, the former second-rounder just has had trouble staying on the field. Along with making the 53-man, Pettis was able to find the end zone in the preseason, and according to PFF was rated among the top 5 Bears in this preseason.
It will be worth following Pettis' stock throughout the season if he can stay on the field and build a rapport with Justin Fields he could become one of his unproven gems that GM Ryan Poles targeted heavily when building his first-year roster with Chicago.
