The Bears parted ways with numerous starters on the former roster Allen Robinson, Akiem Hicks, Eddie Goldman, and Bilal Nichols all signed with new homes in free agency. Then of course the biggest surprise would be the Khalil Mack trade with the Los Angeles Chargers.
Despite many uncertainties within the roster that would be constructed next season, numerous youthful veterans would be a part of the roster heading forward, this included Justin Fields, David Montgomery, Darnell Mooney, Cole Kmet, Roquan Smith, Eddie Jackson, and Jaylon Johnson.
On the latest episode of the Bears mini-series 1920 Football Drive, Ryan Poles stated in his first days of becoming the GM he «challenged» the duo of Darnell Mooney and Cole Kmet to get with Justin Fields this off-season and get into the lab together. On-field performance and chemistry are huge in this league and it's what writes the paycheck but the difference is made in the off-season.
The trio of Fields, Mooney, and Kmet are expected to play a major part in this offense in the upcoming season, but building chemistry and timing when installing a new system as intricate and precise and Getsy's is more important than anything.
With training camp underway and being a matter of weeks away from seeing Bears football again this preseason, it will be exciting to see the offense grow and make strides to become great.
