As expected, the Chicago Bears selected USC superstar quarterback Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, giving the team its first franchise quarterback.
Although Williams has a lot to prove moving forward, with incredibly high expectations to reach during his career in the league, the former Trojans superstar seems up for the task and brimming with confidence.
However, players of his caliber can sometimes try to do too much on the football field to meet those high expectations. This has some concerned that he might overdo it in his rookie campaign in the Windy City.
In a recent appearance on «The Jim Rome Show,» Williams' new teammate and star safety Kevin Byard urged the No. 1 overall pick not to resort to hero ball in his first year in the league.
«Like, don't, don't try to, don't try to come in and feel like you got to come and play hero ball,» Byard said.
It remains to be seen whether Williams will be the real deal at the NFL level, as he has obviously yet to play a down in the professional league. However, all signs point to the brash quarterback being exactly what Chicago needs to become a force in the NFC.
Only time will tell if Williams can live up to the hype, but until then, there's a lot of excitement in Chicago about a potential superstar quarterback entering the NFL.
