As reported this morning, the Bears have released veteran tight end Tommy Sweeney:

Sweeney was drafted by the Bills back in 2019 and stayed with them until his rookie contract expired.

Then, ahead of the 2023 season, Sweeney signed with the Giants on a one-year deal.

During training camp with the Giants last offseason, Sweeney collapsed on the field due to an undisclosed medical reason. He did not appear in any games that season and was released in November of that year.

This offseason, the Bears signed Sweeney, but now, he is once again a free agent as the Bears have released him.
