According to NBC Sports Chicago's Josh Schrock, the Bears' offensive staff is thrilled with how well Williams has prepared for their teachings at this week's rookie minicamp. Williams has been proactive, quickly getting up to speed with the demands of both the Bears and the NFL. Crucially, he's been engaging by asking insightful questions.
NBC Sports Chicago shares more details:
"Bears QB coach Kerry Joseph highlighted Williams' inquisitive nature, saying, 'He's one of those guys who wants to know why. You put a play in, you discuss it, and he's right there wanting to understand the reasoning behind each decision.' Late one evening, Williams texted him questioning the specifics of a play, showing his eagerness to understand every aspect of the game."
Joseph appreciates how quickly Williams has adapted in his initial professional experiences.
From NBC Sports Chicago:
"Joseph credits Williams' personal QB coach, Will Hewlett, for excellently prepping him for what was to come at minicamp, stating, 'He was light years ahead with the information he had.'"
While it may not be groundbreaking that Williams, a multimillionaire first pick, is expected to be well-prepared, the ease and effectiveness with which he has started his first few practices are promising signs for Chicago's hopeful future star.
And yes, despite the surprising progress, pigs have not yet begun to fly.
