Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker is being celebrated as a hero after he swiftly responded to a medical emergency involving his teammate BJ Thompson at practice on Thursday.

BJ Thompson, 25, experienced a cardiac arrest and seizure during the session. He was promptly transported to a hospital where he was listed in stable condition. According to his agent, Chris Turnage, Thompson is now "awake and responsive," reports NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Butker's quick thinking to alert the team's medical staff was pivotal in providing immediate care to Thompson, a second-year defensive end.

Chiefs head athletic trainer Rick Burkholder praised Butker's alertness, noting that while a definitive diagnosis has not yet been made, Thompson is "coming along quite well" and "heading in the absolute right direction."

The incident has sparked a wave of support for Butker, with fans lauding his heroic actions that significantly contributed to the timely medical response Thompson received.

In related news, Harrison Butker, who previously made controversial remarks during a speech, is preparing for his eighth season with the Chiefs. The team is gearing up for their season opener against the Baltimore Ravens at Arrowhead Stadium on September 5.
