This week, an image of Williams' phone made rounds online, displaying his goals prominently on his lock screen. Among these is the aim to secure "Superbowls x8," an ambitious target that seeks to eclipse Tom Brady's record of seven Super Bowl wins. While some critics question the practicality of such goals for a player yet to play in the NFL, the Bears' management embraces his aspirations.
"Our view is that everyone ought to set substantial goals," stated GM Ryan Poles. "Here at the Bears, our objective is to win multiple championships, and we actively pursue this."
Setting personal objectives is a common practice among players at the start of each season, a practice the Bears strongly support.
"Having clear goals makes you more deliberate in how you live, practice, and handle your professional responsibilities to achieve them," explained Poles. "When everything aligns with these ambitions, it really excites me."
Despite a Super Bowl appearance in 2006 and some NFC North championships, the Bears have largely struggled since their 1985 Super Bowl win. Leaders like Poles, and soon Williams, are determined to revive the team's fortunes by elevating organizational standards and expectations.
Williams also aspires to be the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL drafta long-held dream that is likely to become reality come this Thursday.
