Veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers recently shared insights about his potential return this season and his future with the New York Jets.

Despite ongoing rehabilitation from an Achilles injury and participation in practice, Rodgers dismissed the idea of making a comeback in 2023.

During an appearance on 'The Pat McAfee Show' this Tuesday, the 40-year-old emphasized that he isn't rushing his return, despite being cleared for practice.

"If I were at 100% today, I'd definitely be eager to play," he explained. "But the reality is, I'm not there yet. I've been diligently working to get closer... I'm still 14 weeks away from my surgery. Being medically cleared as 100% healed isn't feasible at this stage."

It's challenging to imagine that Rodgers wouldn't attempt a return to the field had the Jets remained in playoff contention. Their lack of postseason prospects has likely spared him from potential setbacks due to injury or embarrassment.

Rodgers also revealed that he doesn't view the next season as his final one, expressing a desire to give the Jets at least two seasons before considering retirement.

"I aimed for at least two years," he noted. "This year feels somewhat lost because I only played a few snaps and couldn't showcase my capabilities or assess our potential as a team. I don't believe next year will be my farewell season."
