The Bears are reshuffling their quarterback depth chart, positioning rookie Tyson Bagent as Justin Fields' immediate backup, as shared by an insider source.

On Friday, Claypool expressed his sentiment, mentioning he hasn't felt fully leveraged within Chicago's offensive scheme. He elaborated, "I've been adjusting to the new system and understanding my evolving role, striving to optimize it."

These remarks from Claypool come on the heels of prior comments, which drew scrutiny. He had earlier conveyed regrets to the coaching staff and fellow players for his perceived lack of commitment during the season opener versus the Green Bay Packers. His performance, particularly concerning run blocking and in the screen game, had been a topic of discussion among the Bears' coaches and team post that game.

Bears' wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown is likely to make his season debut, the same source revealed.

Regarding St. Brown's potential play in Week 4, Coach Matt Eberflus commented on Friday, "It's yet to be decided. He's certainly got a chance given his practice performance. Final decisions will be made soon."

Reports about the changes involving Claypool, Bagent, and St. Brown first emerged on Sunday via the NFL Network.

The Bears, still seeking their first win, average a mere 15.7 points per game following defeats against the Packers, Buccaneers, and Chiefs. Claypool has received 14 throws, converting them into four receptions for 51 yards, including a touchdown.

Aged 25, Claypool is approaching the end of his initial professional contract. Since his move from Pittsburgh to Chicago in November 2022, Claypool has found it challenging to secure a consistent presence, recording 18 receptions for 191 yards and a single touchdown in 10 appearances.
