"We're going to keep our focus on ourselves," Eberflus stated, as reported by Sean Hammond of the Daily Herald. "This game is significant for both teams. It's a rivalry, and we're looking forward to heading up there and playing some football."
On Tuesday's episode of the Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers targeted the Bears, not concealing his strong attachment to Green Bay while poking fun at Chicago's dismal recent performance against the Packers.
"Is it even a rivalry anymore?" Rodgers questioned. "If they can't defeat us, can it truly be considered a rivalry?" Rodgers boasts an impressive 26-5 record against the Bears during his Hall-of-Fame career, and Chicago hasn't secured a victory against Green Bay since Packers coach Matt LaFleur took charge in 2019.
Rodgers continued, "Every coach hired by Chicago, their primary objective is to defeat Green Bay. It's been a challenging 30-plus years."
With the Bears already eliminated from postseason contention, their motivation in the regular-season finale extends beyond pride. The opportunity to finally triumph over Green Bay and potentially dash their playoff hopes is a significant incentive. Rest assured, Chicago will be highly motivated to compete on Sunday in response to Rodgers' remarks, regardless of Eberflus' attempts to downplay them in the locker room.
