During the week leading up to their matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs, Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus addressed swirling rumors concerning the resignation of former defensive coordinator Alan Williams.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported that Eberflus personally went room-to-room, offering clarity to his players about the Williams situation. "Given the speculations and all the chatter, I felt the need to set the record straight," Eberflus explained.

He continued, "I told them directly: 'All those circulating rumors are baseless. Alan has chosen to resign. Our defensive roles remain unchanged, and I will be the one making play calls on game day. Any concerns?' I believed this direct approach, though time-consuming, was the best way to handle it."

Eberflus also touched upon remarks made by quarterback Justin Fields. Fields initially indicated on Wednesday that his robotic gameplay might be influenced by "coaching." However, he soon provided additional context to his statement.

Eberflus praised Fields, stating, "His decision to promptly address the media after practice was commendable. It took guts. When you know you need to set things right, you should. It not only reflects one's character but also leadership qualities."
