The Bears took on their division rivals, the Vikings, in their week 6 matchup. This game was expected to be close, and we were hoping for a win.
The Bears ended up losing 19-13, and there are many reasons for it.
After the game, Bears insider Josh Schrock shared an article on his observations:
In the article, Schrock points out Justin Fields' injury which took him out of the game, as well as other injures that negatively affected the team. Fields left early in the 2nd half with a hand injury, and is currently getting tests done to see the severity of it. OL Nate Davis and S Eddie Jackson also suffered injuries in the game, which ultimately took them out. Having these injuries only brought more bad news to this team.
He then points out how awful the Bears were in the first half, and even against a sloppy Vikings defense, they still struggled. Fields finished the game throwing for only 58 yards, along with 1 interception. The team did get something going in the second half, but it was not enough.
And lastly, Schrock talked about how we finally got to see the Bears preseason hero, undrafted rookie QB Tyson Bagent. After Fields left the game with a hand injury, it was finally time to see the rookie. Though he made some ugly rookie mistakes, Bagent did put the Bears in a great position to win. Unfortunately, they were not able to accomplish their goal, but we did get to see some highlights from him, including his first career TD - which was a QB sneak.
The game certainly was not pretty, but I am not giving up on them yet. We are seeing some bright spots with this team, and I believe they they could surprise the NFL.
