The Chicago Bears might retain Justin Fields this offseason instead of trading him, aiming to select a premier quarterback with their No. 1 pick. However, should they opt to trade, Fields is expected to attract significant interest.

The Atlanta Falcons, uncertain about their quarterback future after benching Desmond Ridder and rotating with Taylor Heinicke in 2023, might consider Fields. Currently positioned to pick 9th in the 2024 NFL draft, the Falcons might not secure a top quarterback prospect and could think about trading their second-round pick (41st overall) for Fields, as per Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports.

Since moving on from Matt Ryan, the Falcons have struggled to find a reliable quarterback for the long term. Fields, with his impressive rushing ability, could fit into Arthur Smith's system or adapt to a new coaching approach. With the likelihood of a mid-draft pick in 2024, Atlanta might explore acquiring an established quarterback like Fields.

Fields has recently increased his trade value with impressive performances, despite a thumb dislocation in Week 6. Over six games post-injury, Fields has shown significant improvement. The Bears have a positive record in this period, with Fields contributing substantially both in the air and on the ground.

With a cost-effective contract for the next two seasons and recognition as a top-10 quarterback by his peers, Fields' recent upswing makes him a valuable asset. The Bears might expect a substantial offer for him, possibly a late first or high second-round pick plus additional assets.

Despite the potential of trading Fields due to the allure of the No. 1 pick, the Bears face a difficult decision. They might consider keeping him, especially given the potential of acquiring more assets by trading down from the first pick while still selecting a top talent. This strategy could leverage Fields' trade value or reaffirm his position with the Bears moving forward.
