Teammates' preferences may influence Justin Fields' potential stay with the Chicago Bears. While the team could opt to trade Fields and select a quarterback with the No. 1 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, not everyone in the locker room favors that scenario.
According to Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun-Times, Bears tight end Cole Kmet emphasized his strong rapport with Fields and expressed his desire for Fields to remain with the team. Despite the uncertainty surrounding Fields' future, Kmet believes Fields will handle any situation professionally.
However, Kmet also acknowledged the harsh realities of the NFL business, where decisions are often beyond players' control. He recognized that the team must evaluate whether selecting a quarterback at No. 1 would be a better option.
The Bears are reportedly considering drafting Caleb Williams, the 2022 Heisman winner. Kmet mentioned hearing positive things about Williams but admitted to not having watched much tape on him.
Kmet isn't alone in advocating for Fields' retention. Wide receiver D.J. Moore also expressed his hope for Fields to remain with the team.
